This hotel is basically "you get what you pay for"; it's quite cheap and therefore if you don't expect much (eg no bottled water in the room) you'll be fine. There's a nice bar (Tanger Inn) in the same building and the Rooftop area is also good with an excellent view over Tangier Harbour. Although the general location is great (very near the old historic part of town), the hotel itself is on a bit of an uneven hill which taxi drivers don't seem to like much and also with homeless people occasionally camping out at night nearby.

Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists.
Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists. The old section was busy and the vendors are willing to bargain. It still has an older airport but for the little town they were adequate. The hotel arranged for a larger taxi and the drivers were fluent in French but not so much English. It was a laid back time with no one begging. The city had plain clothed police in the tourist areas but it was kind of cute because they were in plain clothes but had a red arm band stating they were police.

We traveled during Ramadam (on a budget) so most cafes were closed during the day, except those in heavy tourist areas, but this meant less tourists, so all in all a positive experience. The water was turned off in the Medina on two of the four mornings we were there, so I would recommend staying outside the Medina but close to it. Small dars and riads have steep stairs and no elevators so not a great option for everyone, but they have the most charm and hospitality. The Kasbah area is very nice with beautiful views.

Tangier has a special place in my heart!
Tangier has a special place in my heart! I've made so much realisations here. Indeed, a beautiful and warm place with such hospitality can help those people struggling with their mental health to realign their aspirations in life and eventually open themselves up to the rest of the world. I might not have been to a lot of places in Tangier due to short stay, the tranquility of this place helped me a lot more than any of my stay elsewhere. This is not just a holiday for me, it was a precious set of memories amongst a sea of negativities I am facing everyday that I will hold on to, to reach a better place not just for myself, though it seems like a selfish way of indulgence in the eyes of many which they would never understand.
Thank you

I love Tangier, it was the highlight of my stay in Morocco.
I love Tangier, it was the highlight of my stay in Morocco. It was beautiful, I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. The only downside was the parking was not free as advertised in the apartment listing and we had to pay.
The location is amazing! It’s in the heart of the medina, right next to the kasbah museum and to the kasbah entrance which is a perfect access by car or taxi with very little walking involved! Lorraine is a very gracious host, I loved hearing about her story. Mohammed has great recommendations and was very nice and kind. Would love to come back!
Pro tip: use careem car service (it’s like uber) for a more comfortable but also cheaper transportation! This applies to anywhere in Morocco ;)
The hotel is in a great, very central location, opposite the marina, very close to the beach and 10 minutes walk to the medina, port and new town.
The hotel gave us an upgrade to a suite which was great, very spacious. The bed was comfy and the shower huge. The hotel in general is bright and airy, it looks like it has been refurbished relatively recently. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us fruit and cakes on New Year’s Eve. There’s also a good choice for breakfast.
Tangier was a spontaneous choice and I am so glad I chose this property. I had the room with the balcony and view of the old medina which I was very pleased with. The property is beautiful and perfectly located. Loved the interiors and stories behind the neighbourhood and some of the pieces in the property. I enjoyed the breakfast spread, it was incredible. But the star of the show for me was Muhammed, wonderful man who made sure I was taken care of as a solo traveler.
When it comes to visiting Tangier, the Maison de Tanger stands out as the epitome of excellence in accommodations. At Cultural Morocco Tours, we have consistently chosen this exquisite hotel for our discerning clientele, and without fail, it has exceeded all expectations. From its captivating ambiance to its impeccable service, Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly endorse Maison de Tanger as the ultimate choice for an unforgettable stay in Tangier
It's my first time with shared dormitory at a hostel, I really loved the experience I et some wonderful wise people from the US, Germany and Morocco.🌍
The staff were so kind, the reception was perfect.✨
The room, the bathroom, the toilet, all the building are clean.👌🏽
The hostel is located in the old medina so you can imagine the beauty of the old Moroccan buildings.❤️
If I came back to Tangier I would definitely stay in the Riad Hostel Tangier.
The staff were incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming. The room was lovely. A/C and WIFI all worked fine. Super-comfy bed. Great housekeeping, well stocked toiletries selection. One special shout-out to Mr. Maoud, one of the best waiters I've seen in the world, and I've owned two restaurants as well as traveled to 21 countries. This is a superior facility in the heart of the Medina. Returning to Tangier, I would not stay anywhere else.
The best place we stayed in Morocco. Sure, the Riads are beautiful and novel, but La Maison really feels like a home to stay in. We were greeted so kindly, welcomed into the property and shown to the mostly lovely quaint room. Our host was so lovely, spending time to talk with us and tell us the history of the house. One of the most lovely people we met in Morocco. Go here, spend a bit more, and enjoy a wonderful experience.
The location was fantastic, right in the medina. The decor was amazing, the wall to floor art was varied and fascinating and made the place incredibly welcoming, homely, and interesting. The staff were so so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The double roof terrace was amazing and was hard to leave to start the day in the medina!
Could not recommend this hotel enough!
Wonderful hotel with a beautiful marrocan interior in the very heart of the old city. Great friendly staff - the women serving breakfast were extremely sweet with a great sense of hospitality and a beautiful energy ! Nora and her assistant at reception were very nice and helpful, they helped us book excursions and taxis. We definitely recommend!
The best hotel in the medina !!!
Location is excellent, especially if you are arriving on the ferry from Tarifa. Also very handy for exploring the old medina.
Beautiful views from the terrace looking out across the bay.
If you are looking for a taste of Old Tangier, this could be the place for you. Dating from 1870, it bills itself as a museum as well as a hotel. Lots of interesting nooks to sit in.
I loved that you could still feel the vaunted history of the hotel everywhere on the property. The staff was so accommodating responding to requests and making suggestions on how to make your stay in Tangier more enjoyable. And our room had a fantastic view of the Mediterranean and Bay of Tangier. And the hotel is in a great location.
The hotel is clean and modern, with a great view of the sea. It is on the northern edge of the medina, and so is close to the main tourist attractions, as well as a 25 min walk from the city beach. There is a nice balcony to relax and have a beer / coffee on and watch the sea. The staff are helpful (though not available 24 hours).
The hotel is very conveniently located in the medina. Bashir, Rachid and everyone was really nice. Both guys guided us through our stay in Tangier. One of the nights we enjoyed a very late tea at the rooftop terrace which they gladly prepared and for which we are extremely grateful after a long day sightseeing :)
The Hotel was incredibly clean and all of the facilities were quite new and up to date despite being in the heart of the Old Medina. The restaurant on the terrace level was quite good and well priced. Breakfast was great. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, too.
The hotel is in the middle of the Medina but so quiet. After traveling through Morocco this was the first place where we slept through the night without waking up due to nuisance or noise. The sunny rooftop terrace is also lovely to hang out after a day of sightseeing.
The room was clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. A special thanks to Mr. Ahmed who went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Tangier.
As a Cultural Morocco Tours operator, and according to our experience and our dealings with most hotels, we admit that this is one of the best stay that you can find when visiting Tangier, .
Central location, the best pizza in the medina.
Big building and bicycle well accommodated (thankyou). Entrance to hotel by side door.
Best value hotel room you will find.
