L'Hotel Ylläshumina gode di una splendida posizione sul lago di Äkäslompolo, vicino al villaggio di Äkäslompolo. Fairytale hotel, wonderful to be holed up there in the winter with the snow falling all around. Food was great (amazing breakfast, gorgeous dinners), nice sauna, handy for skiing and other activities (ski bus takes you direct to the slopes in about 15 mins and is pretty regular.) Rooms spacious, well designed and clean, comfy beds and decent shower. It’s the staff though that really made the difference. A happy family of people who went out of their way to look after me, a warm welcome at reception and bending over backwards to look after me at dinner…as a solo traveller it means the world.

The Lapland Hotel Ylläskaltio provides functional accommodation with ski routes and sledding tracks starting right outside the door. A ski shuttle is available from the front of the hotel. Well situated; near the lake, which is an excellent spot for Northern lights (w/o street lighning) and very close to good Snowfunsafari where we booked all our excursions, next door to a gourmet restaurant Poro. The breakfast of the hotel if excellent, large variety of dishes. We enjoyed local and continental breakfast (our doughters loved the self made gauffres :-) We did not test the dinner. We also loved there were available slides and local "potkuri" to have a ride on the snow.

Korpikelo provides a sauna and free private parking, and is within 36 km of Kolari Train Station. Beautiful wooden cabin, fully equipped kitchen, sauna, fireplace, free parking slot and very good location, clos to the skiing resort.
