With the basilica looming above it, there's a real sense of history about this town. Very filmic atmosphere. Lovely river frontage and great cycleways and walkways. The town square has its own wishing well fountain a la Trevi.
it's close by train to Budpest and definitely worth a weekend or more stay

Lots of colourful pansies everywhere, a very clean and well kept town with plenty of cafes and bars. Wonderful views over the Danube from the castle at the top of the hill. Well worth a visit as it is less than 2 hours from Budapest on the train.

Esztergom is a charming little town, with pretty streets and a wonderful cathedral to visit. It's easy walking distance everywhere. We ate in the evening in a great restaurant not far from the river called Mediterraneo, which we would thoroughly recommend. There was also a cracking little venue called Sportalsó which had live music on.

The scenery was really nice, but we couldn't get up on the train, which was supposed to get around the town.We wanted to go for a boat trip or something, but it was closed and not many information was around about that. The bus which was taking us into the town was clean and nice, the price wasn't expensive either.I recommend Paddy's,it was perfect, the food excellent, not to expensive and the service also excellent.

You don't need to stay in Esztergom.
You don't need to stay in Esztergom. Just visit the Basilica and Castle and go back. In winter, even on Saturday almost all stores and cafes were closed. We couldn't do anything in cold weather.

The best for me is the Primatial Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed Into Heaven and St Adalbert.
Is easy to go for others cities, they have good connections.
The people don't speak almost nothing of English.
Just PERFECT 👌🏼 We loved our stay in Esztergom and our accommodation definitely had something to do with it !
Very good location 2min walking from the walkway to Esztergom castle and cathedral. Located on the main street in front of the bus stop, but not noisy thanks to the nice interior courtyard. The flat is small but well organized, loved the duplex style with bed on top. We had AMAZING nights and slept so well among all these comfortable pillows ! 🥰
This was our second say in the boutique hotel and this time we got the king room. It is even more beautiful than the queen and that’s saying a lot. The property is renovated to the highest standard and we just didn’t want to leave. It is very centrally located, bus stop is 2 minutes, thermal baths 5 minutes, basilica 15 minutes walk. The breakfast place is a comfortable 3 minutes walk and they give you a very generous alacarte breakfast.
The location so close to Basilica, town centre, danube is the one of the best things. Easy to find. Our package that included entrance to Aquasziget, half board and new year party was value for money.
The breakfast and dinner spreads had good variety. Rooms were spacious and the view of the basilica was icing on the top. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Check in and check out were a breeze.
The hotel was modern, very clean, good parking facilities, the rooms were very nice and clean too, bathroom was clean and well designed. The staff were excellent, efficient and friendly and very welcoming. Altogether a great hotel, just a pity about the food (the choice of wines was good) ... It will be even nicer when the hotel opens its own wellness area in autumn.
I stayed at this hostel in 2018, 2019 and 2021 and I plan to come back, I suppose that says it all. The town is wonderful, every trip in Hungary must include a few days in Esztergom and Rugby hostel is the best place to stay there. Natural beauty, many touristic places to visit, hills to climb, a perfect place to relax.
The breakfast is delicious so I enjoyed it. The bed is very comfortable so I am able to sleep very well. The room is nice and cozy and the conditioner is very nice that I am able to cool down during such a hot weather. The hotel itself is excellent, because for me I am able to go to the town center and do sight seeing.
Pannonia Apartment is a charming. very unique apartment. There are 3 apartments in a unique round house in a good location in Esztergom. We were on bikes and there is a good, secure area for bike storage. Communication with the host was very good and questions were answered quickly. Highly recommend.
It was in a great position, right down the hill of the Basilica of Esztergom.
We would have stayed more than one night if we would have known how nice Esztergom is beforehand.
Rooms were nice, and staff was friendly with excellent english, also parking the car in an enclosed hotel area was a plus
Great location, next to the basilica. New, well organized hotel. Breakfast was exceptional, wide selection of sweet and savory food, breads and they even thought about lactose intolerantor and vegan people (lactose free and vegan milk, lactose free yogurts etc). Minibar was on reasonable price.
The hotel has a nice small garden. Breakfast is tasty, nothing special, though. The location is okay, a bit far from the city centre, but it is close to other landmarks like castle on the hill. Parking is good.
Spacious rooms. Wellness/swimming area extensive but one has to consider that the hotel doesnot have own facilities but offers a direct, covered, access to the public acqua park. Incuded in the price of room.
Very clean. Nice new furniture. Location - in the center. The hotel has free private parking place .
Pets are allowed. We were with our dog .
Breakfast can be better , no vegan options.
We stay here quite a lot when we travel to Hungary and have never been let down. Staff nice, rooms clean and location is brilliant. Will also stay here when we go back to Hungary
