It was in a beautiful green location, just outside the city, with bicycles to rent -took about 20 mins into the centre. Hotel had a great open car park so it was easy to load and unload. We took our small dog and they left him his own ball as a welcome treat😁. Easy to stay, easy to park and staff were really friendly and helpful.

Location and friendly employees. Breakfast was really good. The timing is perfect and also the choices of the menu. The only recommendation of change I will suggest is to make more channels for the guests to choose. Thank you

Its one of the best cities in The Netherlands, but not manay people know it. Kind of small Amsterdam. Old buildings, city center surrounded by a canal and brdiges. Great shopping, eating drinking. Pub, bars Clubs stay open to the morning light (longest in the Netherlands). lots of good student activity. Great museums as well.

Groningen is beautiful, we were lucky to have visited when the fairground was in town which kept the teenager children entertained.
We also visited a few climbing centres while here.
Staff at the cafes, pubs and restaurants were all very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely visit again.

Groningen can seriously surprise you with it's beauty if you visit in right weather which will enable you to explore all it has to offer. We found our timing just right during our visit of mid/end May. It has a very joyous vibe, well planned infrastructure, multicultural cuisine, easy local conveyance, great connectivity with Amsterdam. Students from various walks of the world makes it even more vibrant and energietic.
The unique 'forum' building, University of Groningen and it's widely spread out yet classic campuses, beatiful streets, Grote market, clock tower and central garden will be remembered for a long time.

Groningen is a beautiful city , I would prefer it to Amsterdam . It is a nice size, there's loads to see and do. The Groninger Museum always has terrific exhibitions and the building itself is amazing. The Ship Museum is excellent also . There is a lovely ambience with many cosy cafes and bars and great eateries such as the Drei Gezusters. We had great takeaway food at the Vis Markt , the Kibbeling is very tasty and the portions everywhere are generous.
As it is a University city , there is a lively student atmosphere,
We walked everywhere as everything is accessible. It is a wonderful spot for a city break.
The hotel is superbly located in the centre of town right on the Grote Markt and next to the Martini Toren and provides great access to shops, restaurants and attractions. The facilities are of a very high standard. The rooms are spacious with beautiful lighting, have a coffee / tea station with a Nespresso machine (with supplies), excellent shower and a novel glass wardrobe, and the Wi-Fi works seamlessly at decent speed. Breakfast is a feast. The Willem Albert Cafe serves excellent coffee, and food. The staff are great.
A very nice place to stay while in Groningen- great location by the lake, so you have beautiful views and peacefulness. Can't walk to the city center though - it's a bit far, but there is a bus stop nearby. You can also rent a bike at the hotel (or a boat!). Spacious free parking just at the front. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms although might give you a gloomy impression at first due to dark interior design. Very quiet. Worth recommending! :)
“UP SIDE DOWN MOTEL”
The fotos are tricky on the website. it is ONLY 2 floors , first and second floor and each floor has 18 room, the whole building is for Apartments only , so the real rating is 2 stars hotel. The reception is a small counter inside the restaurant, NO LOBBY without facilities , swimming pools, etc.
The reception is in floor 3 and the rooms in floors 1,2 only and few in ground floor next to the street.
Location is very bad
The NH Groningen is a very comfortable, modern hotel with all the features and efficiency you would expect from a 4-star hotel. Its big plus is that the old town is only a ten minute walk away. There are many eateries, pubs, bars and shops in easy reach. Part of the reason for this is that a quarter of the city’s residents are students studying at the places of learning. Good, secure (though not covered) parking for my motorbike.
we always choose to stay at a Van Der Valk Hotel whenever we visit the Netherlands for the Dutch TT round of the Moto GP.
so far we have stayed at Van Der Valk hotels in; Assen-Zwolle-Dwingeloo and now Groningen.
The standard of the hotels are just what we like and why we choose to stay at these hotels, the Restaurants-bars are if a good standard and the service from arrival to departure is nothing but great.
The location is close to both the city center and the train station. There was rich breakfast, including fresh orange juice and espresso The public area of the hotel has interesting outfit in Dutch style. The only inconvenience I met was the smallish bathroom, but this seems to be norm in Netherlands. On overall it is a nice and cozy hotel.
The room is beautiful with a great view of the Martini Tower. The hotel is located in a central area but on a quiet street.
I forgot something in the room and got a call from reception only a few minutes after I left saying that housekeeping had found a pair of trousers. I was actually positively surprise that they reached out. :-)
Perfect location in the heart of the city centre. If you're looking for a hotel which combines decent amenities and services with alternative hotel style, then give it a try; I think it's worth it! Both owners and staff were very kind, friendly and with a really nice energy! Liked the music vibes of this place!
Beautiful window view towards the forum and Martini Tower.
Enjoy my stay here as my first trip to the Netherlands.
Nice staff and the location is very convenient, close to the train station and city centre.
The room is compact, but the bathroom door will be blocked with a large luggage open(28 inches).
This hotel is great. The location is hard to beat. Smack-dab in the middle of the city. The service was great - they gave us a free upgrade because it was quiet. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfy. The place has a big bar and restaurant and oozes style. Will def go again!!
Perfect Location smak in the City Center, Hotel bar is nice, bed comfortable, good and clean bathroom with a nice powerful shower. Right next door to the 3 sisters pub. The ill certainly go back here, next time I’m in Groningen.
The staff was friendly. The breakfast had many different options, it came really fast and it was delicious! The bed was ok. The room was dark and it was not that noisy (even though it was a clubbing night in the city centre).
The hotel is very well situated, close to the university. There are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby.
The staff was super nice and very helpful. Thanks again to Joey for arranging our late checkout :)
Located in the historical centre of Groningen - one of the world's most romantic cities.
Recently renovated rooms.
Boutique hotel, not impersonal or part of a large chain.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Very friendly staff, with a fantastic location in Groningen. Great value for a nice hotel in the center of the city. The room was comfortable. I'd stay here again the next time in town.
